A case under Sections 25, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against him at the Sarai Amanat Khan police station.
Harvinder Singh, SP (D), Tarn Taran, said a police party led by CIA staff in charge inspector Inderjit Singh laid a check-post at Cheema Kalan village.
Singh said the accused, heading towards Cheema Kalan village in a car, was stopped at the check post.
"During checking, we recovered 1kg heroin worth Rs 5 crore in the international market, besides Rs 25 lakh from his possession," he added.
The SP said accused Shatarpal Singh is a courier of a gang of arrested BSF constables, accused of cross-border smuggling.
He said the accused supplied heroin in Punjab and other states. "The father of the accused is also a notorious drug smuggler and languishing in Amritsar Central Jail," added the SP.
