Indian cricket team skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was in the city to promote a film based on his life on Wednesday, said that he loved Jalandhar city as this is the place from where he gets his bats.
The film titled ‘MS Dhoni – The Untold Story’ is based on his life. National award winning Bollywood director Neeraj Pandey, who has directed the film, also accompanied Dhoni.
Famous among cricket fans as ‘Captain Cool’, ‘Mahi’ and many other names, Dhoni interacted with students and shared inspiring episodes and experiences of his cricket career. Dhoni also released the trailer of his upcoming movie, which is based on his life and features Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role as Dhoni.
Under joint efforts of MS Dhoni and Lovely Professional University, Dhoni also launched an ‘LPU Dhoni Scholarship’ so that top sportspersons get motivated to studies. This scholarship will be for international players, Ranji Trophy medalists and inter-university finalists.
Interacting with students, Dhoni explained about the film that it will show many untold aspects of his life, particularly his earlier life: “Here are all challenges and hard work that I faced, and nothing in special that only glorifies me,” he said.
He said his personal life was significant, but the winning of the World Cup was the most significant turning moment of his life.
Giving a message to students, Dhoni said, “Take much from your learning at the campus and be successful. Despite all the elation over a win, it is important not to get carried away with the victory.”
