The 21-year-old victim who was repeatedly gangraped for four consecutive days at a hotel-cum-guest house in Morni talked to her husband on July 17 after the owner of Lovely Guest House handed his phone for a minute.

“She told me that she was being badly treated and her life was in danger. Sunny had warned her that she should not disclose anything to anyone and if she did so, she would be taken to task and nothing would happen to him as he has contacts with influential people”, said her husband.

The victim talked in Bhojpuri with her husband in order to conceal her conversation from Sunny.

“After that I contacted other people for support and contacted the police control room thrice but there was no action. He again contacted Sunny on July 18 and conveyed him that he was going to the police.

The woman was offered job as a cleaner by Sunny, owner of the guest house and a friend of her husband.

After she reached there on July 15, she called her husband that she had reached safely. Then on July 17, her husband contacted Sunny on the phone telling him that he wanted to talk to her wife. Sunny got her talk to him for a minute.

Was thrashed, her face, lips swollen’

The victim was thrashed and sustained injuries on hands and her face and lips were swollen, said her husband.

“She was beaten by the accused,” he claimed. The family hails from Bihar and have settled in Manimajra.

“My wife told me that she used to hear cries of girls from the adjoining rooms and perhaps there were three or four girls who were also being assaulted in the guest house, said the husband.

A police official said, “Besides swelling on her face, her body was shaking. She had acute stomach pain and was having difficulty to narrate her ordeal and was repeating that eight to nine men raped her for four days.”

“She was given sedatives to keep her in semi-conscious state and was kept in a room, which was locked from outside,” said the officer. Police said the place where the woman was raped is visited by notorious men who target women.

P’kula cops, hospital compounded trauma

The victim reiterated in her statement before the judicial magistrate, under Section 164 of the criminal procedure code (CrPC), that a hospital refused to conduct her medical and asked for a police complaint first. Also, the special police station for women in Panchkula refused to lodge an FIR.

HT learnt that the victim was tormented and kept repeating “8-10 logon ne kiya yeh mere saath” to whomever she came across after the FIR was registered at the Manimajra police station late on July 19.

The medical report attached with the statement to the magistrate, stated there was “no injury in and around the genital area.”

The medical report prepared by the doctors at Civil Hospital, Manimajra, mentioned the victim was “patient, conscious, cooperative and well oriented to time, place and person,” adding, that the “hymen was ruptured”.

As the family’s financial condition was bad, they were looking for a job. Sunny contacted victim’s husband on July 14 telling him about the job at the guest house. The victim’s husband knew Sunny through a common friend.

The couple left their house at 10.30am on Saturday morning and were not reachable.

The neighbours said the couple had shifted here only two months ago and used to fight a lot.
