The Haryana government has roped in actor Parineeti Chopra as brand ambassador for the 'Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao' programme to promote the cause of the girl child, an official release said on Thursday.

A mega event has been planned in Gurgaon on July 21 to give the campaign a push which would be attended by Chopra, the release added.

Connection with the state

Parineeti Chopra, actress of hits such as Ishaqzaade, Hasee to Phasee and Shhuddh Desi Romance, traces her roots to the town of Ambala in Haryana where she was born and raised. She did her schooling at Convent of Jesus and Mary in Ambala Cantonment.

She has received constant praise for her choice of roles as well as performances in all her movies. For her high-voltage performance in Ishaqzaade, Chopra won a National Film Award - Special Mention at the 60th National film Awards, apart from being nominated in the Best Actress category at the Filmfare awards the same year.
