Forgetting political differences, prominent political leaders of Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Aam Aadmi party (AAP) took part in the protest for one hour and demanded a rollback of the solid bridge construction on National Highway-1 starting from the rest house chowk in the city.

Protesters said that city residents have been demanding the construction of an elevated road connecting the city as it could also solve the parking problems as well provide shelter and employment to hundreds of poor labourers.

They demanded the construction of an elevated road from the Rest house chowk to the civil hospital road on NH-1.

Agagitators demanded talks to review the project.

Phagwara sub-divisional magistrate also reached the spot to pacify the protesters.

They lifted the project after the SDM assured them that construction work will not take place before a table meeting between local residents and administration was held.
