Kapurthala SSP Ravcharan Brar has suspended Police Control Room (PCR) incharge Surjit Singh on the charges of dereliction of duty. Surjit was also holding the additional charge of Kapurthala city SHO as the incumbent Harpreet Singh was on leave.
Surjit has been suspended for his unprofessional conduct in a case where a couple was found in a compromising position at a locked shop on the Kanjali Road.
Surjit broke open the shutters after the complaint was found to be genuine.
"The SHO took the couple to the city police station and informed DSP Paramjeet Singh. Parents of both were called and the matter was closed after warnings to both the families, without registering any complain," sources said.
"I should have been informed. He maintained no record of action taken. He failed to even investigate into how the couple managed to get access to a shop locked from outside. The matter deserved to be probed deeply, but the PCR incharge tried to hush up the matter," said the SSP.
"A notice has also been issued to DSP Paramjit Singh for not informing me about the case."
The SSP also announced new appointments. Inspector Naresh Kumar has been deputed as the new city SHO. Harpreet Singh has been made the new PCR incharge. Sub-inspector Ashok Kumar has been deputed as the new duty officer at the Bholath police station.
