Phillaur: Couple commit suicide by jumping in front of train
Reason behind the suicide is still unknown. Rohit’s younger brother said they knew about the relationship, while the girl’s family claimed ignorance.
A couple committed suicide by jumping in front of a train near railway line adjacent to Phillaur bus stand on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as, 20-year-old Rohit from Birk village and 15-year-old girl from Mau Sahib village.
The boy was a blacksmith by profession and the girl was a student of Class 9.
Government railway police (GRP) said the two knew each other for three months.They became acquainted with each other after the girl came to live with her grandparent in Phillaur.

The bodies have been handed over to families after postmortem. A case under Section 174 of the CrPC has been registered.
