Talking to Hindustan Times, Mona Singh, principal, Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, said, "We have scheduled our winter vacations from December 30 to January 7. As of now the schools timings are 8:40 am to 2:40 pm. However, when the school reopens on January 8, we are planning to change the school timings to 9 am."

Sister Chantal, principal, Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, said, "Our school will be closed for winter vacations from December 23 to January 2. The school will reopen on January 3. If the weather conditions are harsh, we will change the timings from 8.30 am to 9 am."

Unhappy over the schools' decision, Anita Kaushal, a bank employee, said, "The weather these days is so chilly. My daughter leaves for school at 7.30 am as the school starts at 8.30. The schools must schedule the winter break from December 25 to January 15, as it is very cold and foggy during these days."

Another parent, Janak Mehra, a businessman, said, "Instead of shortening the winter break, schools should skip the autumn break, so they can keep the schools closed during harsh weather."
