Yoga guru Ramdev said on Sunday that if Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is made the Congress president, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will have to “struggle hard”.
He was speaking on the sidelines of a yoga camp held in Panchkula on Sunday. Ramdev said if Priyanka’s brother and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is elevated to the top post instead, the BJP will be able to realise its dream of ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’ (Congress-free India) easily.
Later attending a ‘Meet the Press’ function in Chandigarh, the yoga guru added a caveat: If Rahul become the Congress president, the Bharatiya Janata Party might become complacent.
On Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Jalandhar on Monday to lead a Congress dharna against drug menace, Ramdev said, “He (Rahul) should be asked whether he had ever taken drugs.”
When asked about the controversy surrounding the movie ‘Udta Punjab’, he said: “I do not watch movies... (though) it is true that drug addiction is on the rise in the country.”
Commenting on Subhash Chandra’s victory in the Rajya Sabha elections from Haryana on Saturday, Ramdev said: “They (Congress) helped a Bharatiya Janata Party person to go to the Rajya Sabha. It will improve their political fortunes and they would also get some votes.”
