Punjab Congress (Kisan cell) members were lathicharged and 15 were arrested by police at Congress Bhawan, Sector 15 in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

Punjab Congress (Kisan cell) members were lathicharged and 15 were arrested by police at Congress Bhawan, Sector 15 in Chandigarh on Wednesday. The members had organised a protest and burnt effigy of chief minister Parkash Singh Badal against non-payment to farmers for wheat procurement.
One member was injured in the lathicharge and was rushed to Sector 16 hospital while 15 were arrested.
The protest was led by Kisan cell chairman Inderjit Zira and Congress legislature party leader Charanjit Singh Channi at the Congress Bhawan in Chandigarh.
Police said they used water canon and lathicharged the workers to disperse them.
