According to local MP Prem Singh Chandumajra, the train has been introduced to link the historic town of Anandpur Sahib with Amritsar keeping in view the long-standing demand of the locals.
He said deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and industries minister Madan Mohan Mittal would accompany the railway minister. Chandumajra said the local railway station would be made a model railway station with facilities like an accelerator foot overbridge.
According to a railway spokesman, the new train will have an air-conditioned chair car, three-tier AC and general class accommodation with luggage van coaches. The schedule, stoppages and composition of regular services of the train would be notified later, he said.
