Rs 1.5-cr paddy goes missing
In an alleged paddy scam, a local trader has caused a loss of Rs 1.5 crore to the Punjab Agro Food Corporation Limited by allegedly siphoning off paddy stocks stored at his rice mill. The president of Punjab Agro, Patiala, lodged a complaint stating that 7,141 quintal of paddy had been missing from the storage of Simran Foods, Chuharpur, in the district.

The president of Punjab Agro, Patiala, lodged a complaint stating that 7,141 quintal of paddy had been missing from the storage of Simran Foods, Chuharpur, in the district.
According to police sources, Punjab Agro agency had supplied 94,789 bags of paddy for storage to Simran Foods.
But the agency came to know that 7,141 quintal of paddy had been missing that cost about Rs 1.5 crore.
Rice mill owner Sukhchain Singh, along with his partners, has been booked under sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)by the Pasiana police. Police said no arrests had been made so far.
