The funeral at the Ramdasia cremation ground was held up for about two hours of traffic blockade on the Lehragaga-Patran road by her family and fellow villagers until chief parliamentary secretary Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu had assured them of justice and the police allowed them to verify the arrests. The victim's brother, Jagsir Singh, lit the pyre.

At 11.45am, when the body was brought to the village, the victim's family was provoked for the protest by some relatives and Sanjiv Mintu of Krantikari Pendu Mazdoor Union, which represents farm labourers. As the protesters raised slogans against the government, Lehragaga deputy superintendent of police (DSP) BK Sharma and station house officer (SHO) Roshan Lal moved in with their teams to keep the situation under control.
