Security guard dies as bathroom roof collapses

A security guard lost his life here as the roof of the bathroom of his rented accommodation collapsed in the wee hours on Monday. The security guard had gone to use the washroom when the incident happen.

The PAU police took the dead body and sent it to civil hospital for postmortem.The deceased has been identified as Bhuvneshwar Sharma,55. A native of Bihar, Sharma was a security guard at PAU.

He lived in Maharaja Nagar in a rented accommodation with his son, who is student of class 10, while his wife lives in Bihar.Sharma had returned late on Sunday night after completing his duty hours, after which he went off to sleep. It was around 4.30 am on Monday that he felt the need to go to the bathroom, which was located on the second floor of the house.

On hearing the loud thud of the collapsing roof his son and neighbors rushed him to the hospital in PAU, where the doctors referred him to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), which is where he was declared dead.

Area residents claimed that the bathroom was in a shoddy condition. Due to heavy rainfall in the recent past, the condition of bathroom had worsened.
