Meanwhile, heavy police force was deployed in Mai Hera Gate on Tuesday where Sikh protesters and shopkeepers pelted stones over a “trolling video” in the presence of police on Monday.
The police also conducted flag march in the city.
The traffic on the National highway-1 remained suspended and PAP chowk and Rama Mandi chowk remained blocked and were cleared only by the afternoon. Earlier, due to the blockade, the buses from Ludhiana and Amritsar could not enter the city leaving the passengers in lurch. The buses from Hoshiarpur and Pathankot side also left the passengers at Chuggiti bypass and Nangal Shama Chowk on Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur road, far away from the city area.
By the afternoon, Sikh protesters also lifted blockade from Nakodar and Shahkot towns.
Meanwhile, paramilitary forces have been deployed in the Jalandhar district.
