Wife of Ludhiana rural senior superintendent of policr (SSP) Ashish Chaudhary, Singh is likely to join office in the coming week.
Singh will replace Rahul Tewari, who has now been appointed as special principal secretary to Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Having served the city as deputy commissioner for more than three years, Tewari was transferred to MC as its commissioner in September 2013.
The outgoing MC commissioner could not hold back his emotions as he spoke about his four years in Ludhiana.
"My posting in Ludhiana as deputy commissioner and corporation commissioner will always remain a special part of my services, which came as a challenge, demanded diligence and gave me immense gratification as an official," Tewari said, while biding adieu to the city.
Known for his courtesy and humility, Tewari became an instant hit with his colleagues and junior staff in both the offices. He had left the staff in DC office in tears after his transfer and went on to establish a cordial relationship with majority of the MC employees after joining as the civic body commissioner.
Referring to the special bond that he shared with people while sitting on two most important chairs of Ludhiana, Tewari said, "It was the close public connect that enabled me to get to know their problems in depth and address them with 100% commitment."
