The members of Sikh Action Committee blocked Jalandhar-Kapurthala road here for two hours and protested against the recent desecration of a ‘bir’ at a village in Faridkot district and the subsequent mishandling of the situation by the police in which two Sikh youths were killed and several others were injured.
The members of Sikh Action Committee blocked Jalandhar-Kapurthala road here for two hours and protested against the recent desecration of a ‘bir’ at a village in Faridkot district and the subsequent mishandling of the situation by the police in which two Sikh youths were killed and several others were injured.

The protest march started from Basti Bawa Khel at 11am and ended at Guru Arjun Nagar in Mithu Basti at 1 pm after passing through Kapurthala Chowk, Chik-Chik Chowk, Adarsh Nagar and other areas.
The blockade enforced by the activists resulted in a heavy traffic jam on the main road of the city which connects it with Kapurthala and Kartarpur towns.
The protesters led by Inderjit Singh Bagga, Gurmeet Singh and others sat in the middle of the Kapurthala Chowk and sang hymns. The youth brandished swords and chanted anti-government slogans.
The city police made adequate security arrangements during the protest march.
