Sukhbir, Harsimrat at Golden Temple; review projects

Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and wife union minister for food processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal were in town on Friday to pay obeisance at the Harmandar Sahib.

The duo reviewed the progress of the `78.08 crore Golden Temple Plaza projects and issued directions to the authorities concerned to conclude the construction before given deadline.

Sukhbir added that the plaza would be thrown open for the 'sangat' in August, since the flooring 90,000 sq feet has been completed and the tender of lighting worth `3.41 crore will also be awarded soon to a renowned company.

He also reviewed the construction of multipurpose hall and state-of-the-art information centre.

"We will soon have a world class waiting hall for devotees and tourists," he claimed.

Harsimrat claimed that phenomenal development in food processing area in the country as well as Punjab will be her priority and she would be working on special projects to ensure the financial health of the state's farmers.

"Proposals for setting up food processing units in Punjab and other states will be cleared without any delay to help the peasantry," she claimed.
