Two motorcycle-riders killed in road mishap in Moga

Two people, riding a motorcycle, were killed after a speeding truck hit their motorcycle on the Moga-Kotkapura state highway near Rajeana village under Baghapurana sub-division on Saturday.

Police officials said that the deceased have been identified as Lakhvir Singh, 45, and Pawandeep Singh, 32, residents of Rajeana. Sewak Singh, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the Baghapurana police station, said that after the accident, the truck driver left the vehicle on the spot and fled.

Bodies were handed over to the families after postmortem at the Dr Mathura Dass civil hospital here.

"We have impounded the truck and a case has been registered against the unknown truck driver at Baghapurana police station on the statement of a prominent citizen Gurpreet Singh of Rajeana," said the police.
