Police identified the victims as Koderma party president Shankar Yadav and his driver, Krishna Yadav. His bodyguard was also injured in the attack.

The incident occurred while Shankar was driving back to Koderma from his stone mines at Dhabtham. Chandwara police station in-charge Soni Pratap said Shankar died instantly while Krishna succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

“The Koderma superintendent of police has ordered an investigation into the incident. A forensic team has also been put into action,” Pratap said, adding that the bodyguard’s condition is critical.

Incidentally, Shankar was attacked in the same location about three months ago. “He survived back then, but the perpetrator ensured his death this time,” he added.

Although police said Shankar was embroiled in a dispute with a business partner, they refused to jump to conclusions this early in the investigation. “Lambu Khan, the main accused in the previous attack on Shankar, is already in jail,” said Pratap.
