A shock for fans! Kabali may have a sad ending, says director Pa Ranjith
While a lot has been said about the actor, the film’s director stayed away from limelight. However, he has finally let out some secrets about the movie and here is a big one: Kabali might have sad ending.
Rajinikanth’s Kabali is set to hit the screens on Friday after all the hype and hoopla around it. The film has a lot riding on it, particularly for Rajinikanth who would definitely be looking for a hit after two back-to-back flops.
While a lot has been said about the actor, the film’s director stayed away from limelight. However, he has finally let out some secrets about the movie and here is a big one: Kabali might have sad ending.

Ranjith told The Hindu and Firstpost that while the producer Kalaippuli S Thanu and Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya were keen on a happy ending to the story, it was Rajinikanth thought it was best not to alter it.

Talking about working with the superstar, Ranjith said, “When I was writing the screenplay, the image of the superstar was coming into Kabali. But I have tried my best to push it aside and only in some portions where I felt the audience needed him, I used the image. On the whole, the film will have my realistic touch.” He further spoke about how he tried to keep the ‘superstar’ mannerisms to in control for the movie. “Whenever the ‘Superstar’ elements came out, I was able to control it. He (Rajinikanth) would laugh it off saying ‘I am not at all an actor’. I wanted to recreate that Rajini in Mullum Malarum… After we wrapped up, he told me that none of his clichéd scenes were there. For eg: his specialty is his fast walk. But in this movie he walks slowly,” said Ranjith.
