Sathyaraj played Kattappa in Baahubali franchise.

Filmmaker Sundar C’s mega budget film Sanghamitra, a period fantasy flick, was launched amid high expectations in Cannes International Film Festival earlier this year. Shruti Haasan was roped in to play a fierce warrior queen and she even underwent special training in sword-fighting in London, before exiting the project owing to unforeseen circumstances. Since her exit, the makers have been desperately searching for her replacement, despite rumours that Hansika is the front-runner. It has also been learnt that veteran actor Sathyaraj, who won over audiences as Kattappa in Baahubali franchise, might also be part of the film.

Tipped to be made on a budget of Rs 150 crore, the film happens to the most expensive project in the careers of its director Sundar C and its makers, Sri Thenandal Studios. It is also rumoured that the film is most likely to be made into two parts. Going the Baahubali way, the first part will feature Arya while the second one will star Jayam Ravi.

Jayam Ravi, too, had said that he will start training for the project and also beef up to play a very challenging role. Arya, who hasn’t had a hit in a long time, has pinned all his hopes on this film as he wishes to bounce back strongly. Double Oscar-winning AR Rahman has been roped in to compose music and he has apparently already completed a song. The film will also be made in Telugu and Hindi but maybe not simultaneously along with its Tamil version.
