Blow for Dhanush’s Vada Chennai: Amala Paul exits after Vijay Sethupathi

Dhanush’s gangster drama Vada Chennai, which is being directed by Vetrimaaraan, is facing one problem after another. After Vijay Sethupathi, now actor Amala Paul has quit.

Vetrimaaraan’s ambitious gangster drama Vada Chennai with the national award-winning actor Dhanush is turning out to be one of the most jinxed projects in Kollywood. The film, which has been in the making for a long time following a spate of unexpected postponements, has faced yet another blow after Vijay Sethupathi’s exit.

Amala Paul, who was supposed to play a pivotal role in the movie, has walked out citing date issues. Earlier, Vijay Sethupathi opted out of the film and cited the same reason. Now, Aishwarya Rajesh, who made heads turn with her performance in Vetrimaaran and Dhanush’s joint production Kaaka Muttai, has replaced Amala Paul and according to bankable sources, Aishwarya has already started shooting for the movie.

Also starring Andrea Jeremiah, Samuthirakani, Kishore and Cheenu Mohan in important roles, Vada Chennai has music composed by Santhosh Narayanan. Jointly produced by Grass Root Film Company and Wunderbar Films, Vada Chennai is said to be the costliest venture in Dhanush’s career. Velraj cranks the camera for the film, whose shooting is currently underway in Royapuram.
