The much-talked-about 150th film of Telugu actor-politician Chiranjeevi was launched in Hyderabad on Friday. The puja followed by the ‘mahuratam’ was held at the office of Konidela Production Company, a production house owned by the actor’s son Ram Charan and his wife Surekha Konidela. The yet-to-be-titled film will be the first venture of the company.
The makers of the film, which is the Telugu remake of Tamil hit Kaththi, aim to release it during Pongal 2017, said sources close to the megastar.
The event was mostly a family affair with the megastar’s brother-in-law and well-known filmmaker Allu Aravind, actors Allu Arjun, Varun Tej, Sai Dharam Tej, director Koratala Siva and producers Sharrath Marar and DVV Danayya in attendance. The film’s first shot was directed by Chiranjeevi’s brother, actor Naga Babu and the first picture clicked by Aravind.

The shoot began with the first clap by well-known dialogue writer Paruchuri Venkateswara. Music director Devi Sri Prasad, popularly called DSP, will compose music of the film while cinematographer R Rathnavelu will handle its shoot.
The megastar’s youngest brother and popular actor Pawan Kalyan, who developed serious differences with him over the merger of Chiranjeevi’s political party Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) with the Congress in 2011, stayed away. Incidentally, Pawan floated his own party, Jana Sena Party, in 2014.
