The first look of Trisha Krishnan’s new Tamil film, Garjanai (Roar) was released on Tuesday evening. It is a remake of actor Anushka Sharma’s critically acclaimed Hindi film, NH10 (2015).

A road film about a couple that goes terribly wrong when they encounter a band of criminals, Garjanai’s poster aptly reflects the unease of the original. A large outline of Trisha’s side profile dominates it. Within the outline we see a group of men chasing someone (we don’t see that though) on a dark night. All we see are the headlights of a vehicle behind. Trisha wears a gaunt and wounded look, with a bleeding forehead showing clearly.

NH10 touched on issues of crime against women, India’s urban versus hinterland divide and honour killing. Directed by Sundar Balu, Garjanai also stars actors Amit Bhargav and Vamsi Krishna in supporting roles.
