Actor Adinath Kothare is presently living his dream. The Zapatlela 2 (2013) actor is finally seeing his dream project of four years come to life. “I have been working on this project for four years. Today, the film is on floors and I couldn’t have asked for more as Priyanka Chopra’s production house Purple Pebble Pictures has now backed it up,” says Adinath, who is currently shooting in the remote villages near Nanded, in Maharashtra.

The film is titled Paani and is based on the true story on Hanumant Kendre, a common man, who saved his village from water crises. “It is a realistic film which stars me, Rucha Vaidya, Subodh Bhave, Rajit Kaput and Girish Joshi. I worked on the script along with Nitin Dixit and Arjun Sorte is the DOP of the film. They are both dear friends, who have made the process much easier for me,” he says.

Adinath adds that Nitin has put his heart and soul into the film and it has come out just the way they wanted it. “We went on floors on May 10 and are shooting in real locations where the story actually occurred.”

So, how was the experience of the debut shot as a director? “It was amazing and I have to credit my wonderful team for all of it. Right from Rashmi Kulkarni, Madhuji (Chopra) and Priyanka Chopra, everyone has been a great support system, which has ensured a smooth sailing shoot. Madhuji and Priyanka heard the script and loved it and I am glad they believed in me and trusted me.”

Adinath’s father Mahesh Kothare is a veteran director-producer-actor, so did he share any tips with his son before the shoot. “Honestly, I feel blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people. My father has always been my guiding light and he has visited me on the sets.”
