Mammootty and Mohanlal to both play Kunjali Marikkar?
Mammootty and Mohanlal will be seen as Kunjali Marikkar in their film with directors Santosh Sivan and Priyadharshan respectively.
Santhosh Sivan took to Twitter to share the poster of his next directorial venture, which will star Mammootty in and as Kunjali Marikkar. Even though the two of them collaborated for Great Father, which was produced by Santosh’s August Cinemas, this is the first film that the two will work together as a director and an actor. Interestingly, Priyadarshan and Mohanlal’s next project after Oppam is also about Kunjali Marikkar.
In an interview with Times Of India, the director had said, “We wanted to do a big film together next. As a result, we have been working on Kunjali Marikkar for some time. The research for the film is ongoing and it will take at least 10 months to complete.”
There is, however, not much information about Santosh Sivan’s project. It looks like the two stars will not only lock horns at the box office, but will play the same character too. Director Priyadarshan is currently busy with his Tamil film, Nimir, and Mohanlal has been working hard for VA Shrikumar Menon’s Odiyan.
Santosh Sivan had last worked as a cinematographer in AR Murugadoss and Mahesh Babu’s Spyder. Mammootty, on the other hand, has multiple projects lined up including Masterpiece and Street Lights.
