Actor-composer Vijay Antony’s Thimiru Pudichavan, in which he dons khaki for the first time in his career, will officially start rolling from Wednesday. Nivetha Pethuraj has been signed as the leading lady and she’ll be seen as a cop in this high-octane action thriller. According to director Ganesha, an erstwhile assistant of SS Rajamouli, Nivetha will be seen working under Vijay Antony in the police department.

“It’ll be a tough role for Nivetha. She has a few action sequences and she’s willing to do them without a body double. She will be seen riding a Bullet in the film and she took classes to ride one. She’s currently taking police lessons from a lady Sub Inspector,” Ganesha said, adding that she was the perfect fit for the character. It looks like Nivetha has a knack for doing stunts on her own. In her upcoming Tamil space film Tik Tik Tik, she didn’t seek the help of body double for stunts. “She was very particular about doing her stunts. Action in this film is not restricted to hand-to-hand combat but it has more to do with being in space and floating mid air defying gravity. Scenes in the space required to be tied with the harness and it’s very scary. Nivetha had no qualms doing these stunts,” director Shakti Soundar Rajan said.

Ganesha confirmed that Daniel Balaji has been roped in to play the antagonist in Thimiru Pudichavan, which is being bankrolled by Vijay Antony Film Corporation. Richard M Nathan will crank the camera, while Antony will take care of music. The role has required Antony to shed a few kilos and grow his mustache.
