Samantha Akkineni and Anirudh’s U Turn song is trippy, liberating. Watch video
Samantha Akkineni and Anirudh’s song ‘The Karma theme’ for upcoming film U Turn is all about breaking free.
Samantha Akkineni is busy gearing up for not one but two releases, the bilingual U Turn and Tamil movie Seema Raja, on September 13. A promotional song that Samantha shot with composer Anirudh Ravichander for U Turn was released on Monday on social media platforms. The song, titled The Karma Theme, has Samantha dancing like no one is watching.
The lyrics of the song are about breaking shackles, getting up again after falling and to never give up. The song is sung by Anirudh, with back-up vocals by Alisha Thomas. Its description reads, “The good. The bad. The evil. How do you know what choice to make? How do you choose the good over evil? It’s not you, but your Karma which decides this for you!”
U Turn is the remake of hit Kannada film of the same name; director Pawan Kumar also helmed the original. Samantha plays the role of a journalist in this film that also stars Aadhi, Bhumika, Rahul Ravindran and others in pivotal roles.
At the launch event of U Turn in Chennai, Samantha said, “Content is the hero of U-Turn. When I saw the film in Kannada, I felt that it should reach a bigger audience and that’s the reason behind it being remade in Tamil and Telugu. I am really glad to have such great producers and I wish the film becomes a hit because of their gesture. The whole movie was completed in a single schedule.”
She added, “To get a role so close to reality doesn’t happen often to actors, especially a female actor. Usually, heroines are expected to leave their brains at home and then do their work. Given this context, I felt that U-Turn is a movie that I shouldn’t miss.”
