Ever since actor Nandamuri Balakrishna announced he’ll be making a biopic on his father and legendary actor, politician NTR, one question that everybody’s been asking is who will direct the project. Since the announcement, names of directors such as Teja, Puri Jagannadh and Deva Katta have been doing the rounds but there’s still no clarity regarding who will finally get to call the shots. However, reliable sources suggest that Teja, who scored a blockbuster with Rana’s Nene Raju Nene Mantri, is the front-runner to land the prestigious project to direct.

Teja and Balakrishna recently met and discussed about working together. It’s not clearly known yet if they spoke about NTR biopic or some other project. Teja is a huge NTR and MGR fan and the fact that he just made a political film and succeeded makes him a strong contender to bag the project. Puri, on the other hand, having worked recently with Balakrishna in Paisa Vasool, is also hoping to land an opportunity to work on this special film. Deva Katta is another director who is said to be in talks with Balakrishna.

Ram Gopal Varma has also announced he will direct a biopic on NTR. In a statement, he said that NTR is a name to reckon with every Telugu-speaking individual. He was not just a great actor but a leader with unprecedented following. “I’m very proud to direct a film on his life,” he had said then. However, Balakrishna had said he has no association with RGV on the project he aspires to make, amidst rumours that he might act in his film.
