Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan, over the last few weeks, has made strong opinions about making the political plunge and floating a party very soon. Coming down strongly on the existing government in Tamil Nadu, he feels there’s a vacuum to fill in the system. On Saturday, actor Gautami Tadimalla, who lived with Haasan for 13 years, was asked at an event if she would support her former partner if he joins politics. Speaking on the occasion, Gautami said (as reported by India Today): “Political leadership is a separate issue. We all have the responsibility to support the right person as a political leader.”

It is rumoured that Haasan will make an announcement regarding his party on his birthday on November 7. However, he has also said in the past that he doesn’t have the financial stability to start and run a political party. It would be interesting to see him go against his own words and launch a party. According to a source close to Haasan, as quoted in the Indian Express, “This is the crucial time to enter. He thinks that there is a political vacuum in Tamil Nadu. He is overwhelmed by the response from the public on his recent statements taking on politicians in the state. He is busy meeting key faces of his fans’ groups besides sharing his ideas and draft papers for the new party with people whom he respects.”

On the career front, having recently wrapped up hosting the Tamil version of Bigg Boss, Haasan has resumed work on Vishwaroopam 2, which expected to hit the screens later this year. Last week, it was also announced that he has reunited with director Shankar for the sequel to his blockbuster film Indian. According to reliable sources, Indian 2 will go on the floors next year.
