It looks like Tamil actor Simbu has given himself an ultimatum. Not long ago, he had announced that he plans to direct and act in a full-length English flick which will be dubbed in Tamil, and he also confirmed that the project will be wrapped up by September but it hasn’t even gone on the floors yet. The latest update from sources close to the star is that he will wrap up this project before he joins the sets of Mani Ratnam’s upcoming multi-starrer project. Apparently, he will finish his English project by November and join Ratnam’s sets from December.
As of now, no information is available about Simbu’s English project, except that it’ll be a project with no interval or songs. The film will be produced by Simbu’s father and will have music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Simbu swore to bounce back strongly with this project following the debacle of his last film, Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan (AAA), which was heavily panned by critics and audiences alike.
In Mani Ratnam’s yet-untitled project, he plays one of the leads alongside Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil. The project, which will be bankrolled by Madras Talkies, will also star Jyothika and Aishwarya Rajesh in key roles. A.R Rahman has been confirmed to compose the music while Santosh Sivan, in his sixth collaboration with the auteur, will crank the camera. Simbu is said to shed all the weight he had gained for AAA for this project, which will showcase him in a different.
