Iran produced a masterclass performance in kabaddi as they thrashed minnows Thailand in the eighth match of the tournament. The result was never in doubt, as Thailand had no answer to the superiority of their opponents.

Iran, on the other hand, underlined their credentials as title contenders with a second consecutive victory. Iran inflicted six all outs on Thailand and look like the team to beat in the World Cup as they sit atop Group B with 10 points.

JAPAN TROUNCE USA

Japan recorded an easy 45-19 win over the United States in their opening Group B encounter.

Japan, making their debut in the Kabaddi World Cup, looked like experienced campaigners as they made short work of a hapless US side.

Results: Iran 64 beat Thailand 23; Japan 45 beat United States 19.
