The loss was Britain's fifth in a row under Lloyd and they now have to beat Turkey to avoid dropping into the lowest tier of the competition.

The Lawn Tennis Association said its response to the loss would be “swift and decisive” but had not taken a decision over Lloyd's future. Lloyd said he was considering his future after Britain lost to a Lithuania team having only three players ranked in the world top 1,000.
