Manchester United’s furious manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, threatened to wield the axe after his star-studded side slumped to a shock FA Cup defeat against fallen giants Leeds.

“We have a semi-final on Wednesday and a lot of these players today won't be playing. You have to view that performance in the right light,” said the United manager and added that for now, the focus is on the semi-final match against Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is in the midst of considering a bond issue as part of the English Premier League champion’s efforts to control its 700 million pound debts, according to news reports, late on Monday.
