The 33-year-old, who was last ranked second in the world in October 2002, has entered the doubles along with Czech Radek Stepanek.

"I have trained very well in the last few months and want to play again," Haas told Sport-Bild online.

Back-to-back injuries to the shoulder and hip means Haas has not played since hip surgery in February 2010.

He hopes to be invited to the ATP tournaments in Madrid, Rome and to Roland Garros which starts at the end of next month.
