New Wimbledon Champion Andy Murray has revealed that £1.6 million was a ridiculous sum of money that he received for winning the men’s singles title at the All England Club, adding that he would have to do more things in less time now that he was so popular.
According to The Guardian, Murray had deposited a cheque for £1.6 million, his prize after beating Novak Djokovic in the men’s singles final last Sunday, and laughed about the sudden increase in his wealth.
The Scot revealed that he enjoyed sitting next to the All England Club chairman, Phil Brook and Marion Bartoli at the champions’ dinner and none of the previous champions had won £1.6 million, the report said.
