Asian Games 2023 highlights, Day 12: Satwik-Chirag enter badminton semis; wrestler Antim signs off with bronze

Asian Games 2023 Day 12 highlights: PV Sindhu crashed out of the singles event while Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy entered the doubles semi-finals.

Asian Games 2023, Day 12 highlights: India clinched gold in the compound women's team archery final by sealing a 230-229 win against Chinese Taipei on Day 12 of the ongoing Asian Games 2023, in India on Thursday. Indian archers Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Gopichand Swami and Parneet Kaur were in hot form as India came out on top in a thrilling clash. India also got gold in the men's compound archery team final. Meanwhile, Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh won gold in squash mixed doubles.

Earlier, India received a massive setback as superstar PV Sindhu crashed out of the women's singles quarterfinals. The Indian shuttler lost in straight games to China's He Bingjiao (16-21 12-21) in what turned out to be a rather one-sided contest. However, HS Prannoy responded well for India by winning his quarterfinal clash which sent him to the semifinal and also assured him of a medal.

India also lost 0-4 to China in their women's hockey semifinal and they will now fight for bronze. Experienced Saurav Ghosal secured a silver in the men's singles squash final event before wrestler Antim won in the women's freestyle 53kg match. In the final event for the Indian contingent on Day 12, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty registered a comfortable win in the men's doubles quarter-final to assure at least a bronze medal.

Terrific from India! The first series of End 3 creates all the difference. No 10s from Hong Kong China but Jyothi, Aditi and Parneet all shot 10s to stretch India's lead and although Hong Kong put up a slightly better show in the second set of three arrows, the Indian archers kept their composure led by Aditi and Jyothi who shot a 10 each to finish the End 3.
