Aaron Ramsey believes his best is yet to come after signing a new contract with Arsenal that will reportedly keep the Wales midfielder at the north London club until 2018.

Ramsey, 23, currently out of action with a thigh injury, hopes to return to full fitness soon and add to his tally of 13 goals so far this season as Arsenal continue their push for the Premier League and FA Cup.

"I feel like there's plenty more to come. This season I've proven a lot of people wrong," he told Arsenal Player on Tuesday.

"There was a tough time in the period after my injury, but I've got through that and I feel really confident and feel like I'm improving with every game.

Ramsey, who has been joined in signing a new Arsenal deal by Santi Cazorla and promising teenager Gedion Zelalem, added: "Hopefully now I can get back out onto that pitch as quickly as possible and show what I'm capable of doing and hopefully finish off the season in some style as well."

Signed from Cardiff in June 2008, Ramsey recovered from a double-leg break at Stoke in February 2010 to become a key member of manager Arsene Wenger's latest Arsenal side.

"I am delighted to have signed a new contract. I have been here for six years and I am so happy," said Ramsey.

"I think we have shown so far this season what we are all about and the direction that this club wants to go in.

"I want to be a part of that, and to be a part of something special at Arsenal. We have a great team which we believe can achieve great things."

He added: "I have been a lot more composed in front of goal and taking my chances, been more consistent week-in, week-out so I would say this has been my best season so far."

Meanwhile, Cazorla, who joined from Malaga in August 2012, said: "I think that we can be a big player in competing for the top trophies in years to come and that's important for me.

"I have already had lots of good moments here and hopefully there will be many more to come.

"One of the main reasons for coming here was to get better as a player and joining Arsenal has definitely made me a better player."

Wenger, on the verge of his 1,000th match as Arsenal manager, against title rivals Chelsea on Saturday, said: "We are very pleased that Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Gedion Zelalem have committed their futures to the club.

"Cazorla and Ramsey are absolutely key players for us, and this news is a boost to the whole club.

"Gedion is very young of course, but he has shown already that he has fantastic promise, and we all look forward to his development with us."
