Australian Open 2024 Highlights, Day 1: Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka, the defending men's and women's champion, respectively, began their campaign with a win. Djokovic survived a scare against Prizmic, winning 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4, while Sabalenka had a rather comfortable time in Rod Laver Arena with a 6-0, 6-1 win against qualifier Ella Seidel. On a bright Sunday afternoon (morning for Indians) in Melbourne, the 2024 edition of the Australian Open kicked off in all its glitz and glamour while promising plenty of riveting clashes, a few surprises, and heartbreaks as well over the next fortnight.
