World number 93 Kamilla Rakhimova became the first player to enter the second round at Melbourne Park. She defeated American Emina Bektas 6-4 6-4 in windy conditions on court six. Meanwhile, the likes of Maria Sakkari, Caroline Wozniacki and Frances Tiafoe also win their opening-round matches.
