The 20-year-old has been out for the entire season because of a stress fracture in an ankle.

He had been hoping to return to the Arsenal first team before the end of the season but this will now not be possible, Wenger said.

"Jack Wilshere will not play again this season and he will not go to the Euros," he said. "That is for sure. He is not ready to practise today and won't be next week. He has made slow progress.

"He is devastated, which you can understand as it was what kept him going until now. His progress is not quick enough just to hope to go to the Euros."
