Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark trailed early against Bethanie Mattek-Sands but rallied to beat the American 7-6 (4), 6-2 in singles and level their Hopman Cup tennis match at 1-1 Monday heading into the deciding mixed doubles.

Top-ranked Wozniacki, who trailed 3-0 and 5-1 in the opening set, arrived in Western Australia earlier Monday from Thailand and was given extra practice time on the Burswood Dome hardcourts.

After tournament officials changed the order of the singles matches, Mardy Fish gave the United States a 1-0 lead, beating Frederik Neilsen 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4.

In another Group A match Monday, Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova and Tomas Berdych won singles matches to give Czech Republic a 2-1 victory over Bulgaria.
