I didn't lock myself in my van to avoid Priyanka Chopra, says Shahid Kapoor

The lives of film stars make news, whether they are spotted with people they are allegedly dating, or whether they’ve gone their separate ways since. Shahid Kapoor, of course, has faced more than the fair share of speculations regarding his personal life.

A few days back, for instance, reports surfaced that the actor locked himself inside his vanity van when he reached a studio to shoot for a dance reality show and realised that his alleged ex-girlfriend Priyanka Chopra was also there.

Ask Shahid, and he is amused by the report. “I didn’t even know she was there. I came to know when I was already on the set, and I think she had left by then,” he says, adding, “And what do people mean by ‘locked himself in the van’? What do people do otherwise? Do they walk or dance around outside? Everybody sits in their vans, gets ready and goes on the set when they are called. Besides, Priyanka and I have met so many times.”

Earlier this year, too, a big deal was made out of the fact that Shahid said “hi” to ex-girlfriend Kareena Kapoor (now Khan). “Yes, she was on stage with Saif (Ali Khan, Kareena’s husband), so we said ‘hi’ to each other. They came on stage, presented an award and we exchanged pleasantries. That’s it… If something had happened, wouldn’t TV channels have shown it?” he asks.

The actor has, in the past, spoken about finding it hard to stay in touch with his exes. “It’s my personal thing. I know some people who have been in relationships and remain good friends later. But I’ve found it difficult in most of my relationships. There are some people — with whom I was in a relationship — and with whom I’m friendly. But most of the time, I’ve found it tough. Maybe I will get better at it,” he says with a smile.
