Vikram lander falls silent 2.1 km from Moon

The orbiter will, however, continue to revolve around the moon and collect significant scientific information on the lunar terrain, elements present on the moon, and the exosphere, the thin layer of atmosphere around the moon.

Half of lunar missions involving landing failed in last six decades: NASA fact sheet

Sample return means mission that involves collecting and returning samples to earth. The first successful sample return mission was Apollo 12 of the US launched in November 1969.
As many as 46 missions involved landing on the lunar surface, including landing of the rover and sample return. Out of these 21 were successful, while two were partially successful.(HT image)

Chandrayaan 2 launch date set at July 9-16, will explore uncharted land

The Chandrayaan-2, which is set to cost about 800 crore, will involve unloading of a rover to study the Moon.

India recalls GSAT-11 satellite for tests from Arianespace’s rocket port
