New research reveals the most popular destinations within the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. France comes in first place as the most-desired destination, followed by the UK and the US.
New research published by Out Now Consulting shows the latest trends among the LGBT community. The US, former number one, has dropped to number three, with the UK moving up as it enjoys increasing popularity after hosting the Olympic Games.
France moves up one place, becoming the most popular destination, even though Paris has moved down the rankings of favorite cities to visit among the gay community.
Within Europe, Greece is also a big winner. The country features as part of the top ten most popular gay destinations around the world for the very first time, coming in ninth place, while Spain drops two places, falling to fifth place.
Among the most popular cities, New York remains number one for the second year running, followed by Rio de Janeiro, moving up one place and pushing Sydney to third place. London moves up one position and arrives ahead of Paris in fourth place.
More findings of the research will be revealed at the World Travel Market (WTM), one of the largest events in the tourism industry, taking place in London in November.
The report reflects three years of research collected from almost 100,000 respondents across 24 countries and 12 languages. For the first time nationalities such as Israel, India and Turkey were included as part of the countries surveyed. Participants were asked which countries and cities they wanted to visit in the next three years.
