It’s curtains down for Yash Raj Films’ ambitious foray into television. YRF’s first slate of television shows on Sony Entertainment Television is ready for departure reported indiantelevision.com.
Come tomorrow, the five shows from the YRF banner Powder, Mahi Way, Rishta.com, Lift Kara De and Seven will be drawing to conclusion.
For now, the YRF shows will be replaced with old properties like Aahat and re-runs of other popular shows. However, a new set of Yash Raj shows will hit Sony Entertainment Television for the primetime slot once its flagship property Indian Idol ends on August 15.
The average ratings of the shows remained at under 1 TVR throughout.
However, YRF chairman Yash Chopra told the portal, "We are very happy with the response to the first season of our shows which have come to their intended conclusion. They have lived up to our expectations of providing differentiated content to a discerning audience. Various shows are being planned for the second season on Sony and we will continue to strive to make meaningful shows."
Buzz is that Mahi Ve and Rishta.com may see a second running. However, unlike last time, all the shows will not go on air all at once. The number of YRF shows on Sonty is also set to decline.
Set EVP and business head Ajit Thakur told the website, "With Powder, Mahi Way, Rishta.com, Lift Kara De and Seven, the Sony-Yash Raj Films' partnership gave us an opportunity to experiment with fresh content for TV viewing in India. This partnership will be back with new shows soon."
