Game of Thrones actor spotted at shoot location, sparks flashback speculations
He did it last year and he has done it again. Wilf Scolding, the actor who played Rhaegar Targaryen on hit HBO drama Game Of Thrones in a flashback scene in season 7, may have unintentionally given a big spoiler to the world.
Wilf was spotted at the shoot location of the new season in Belfast, Ireland, and fans are speculating if he will return for yet another flashback scene in the upcoming season 8 of the show. He posted a selfie taken in front of the Europa hotel in Belfast. However, he deleted it after realising his mistake.
While some are wondering if the picture was taken last year but merely uploaded on Tuesday, others find it a bit bizarre as a promotional tactic.
But if the picture is legitimate, what could his appearance on the show mean? Perhaps we will finally get a better look at the legendary Battle of the Trident when Robert Baratheon killed Rhaegar, one the most important character of the story, without actually being present in it.
Last year, before his character was revealed on the show, a Redditor did some sleuthing online and found that Wilf would play Rhaegar on the show for a flashback scene. Aisling Franciosi (who played Lyanna Stark) followed Wilf on Twitter while the show was filming in September 2016. He followed her back, in addition to following the official GoT account, and Liam Cunningham, who plays the Onion Knight on the show.
The post also spotted the resemblance between Scolding and author George RR Martin’s description of the character - tall, strong, with dark eyes.
The new and final season for the show will air in spring 2019.
