24 became a hit in India on the web after actor Anil Kapoor made a guest appearance on it as the leader of a Middle-Eastern country who is likely to be assassinated. The show depicts a 24-hour period in the life of a government secret agent fighting fictitious terrorist threats to the US.

The bosses have called it a day and the cast and crew of the Emmy-award winning TV series were given the official word that this season will be the show’s last, Variety reported online.

“For us, creatively, it seemed like the right time to do it. It’s very bittersweet.

24 was the greatest learning experience of my career so far. On a personal level, working with this cast and crew and writers, these’ll be friends of mine for the rest of my life,” said Kiefer Sutherland, who plays anti-terror agent Jack Bauer in the show. However, the franchise is far from over as a movie is in the works based on the show, which had eight series, with Sutherland reprising his role as the federal agent.
