After four years, Shveta Salve has returned to a dance-oriented reality show. This time, she’s not a contestant, but the co-host with Jay Bhanushali on

Dance India Dance Double

s on Zee TV.

“I hate repeating myself. I’ve been a contestant once on

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa

. I can’t keep hopping from one dance show to another, though I’ve had hundreds of offers in the last few years,” says Salve, who made her entry into the show with a dance number, something that no host has done so far.

“I love dancing and I can’t stay away from it. Besides, I’m on a show that’s loaded with superb dancers, each better than the other. I had to feel that I’m part of a show of that caliber.”

Shweta SalveMissed call

The actor-dancer lost the finale of

’s first season to Mona Singh, who’s now become an iconic face on most of Sony Entertainment’s shows. Does Salve feel she lost out on a chance? “No way,” she retorts. “I’m happy I did one dance show and moved on. Lots of producers, including those of

Nach Baliye

, approached me. With due respect to Mona, if I took on shows at the rate at which she did, I’m sure people would have confused one show of mine with another. Even today, lots of people remember me as the finalist of

’s first season. And that’s enough.”

Didn’t she want to show a

(move) of hers on the show’s fourth season, since dance diva Madhuri Dixit is judging it? “I can only focus on one show at a time. I have immense respect for

, the dancers and the judges, but I love the show I’m doing right now. It’s fun and makes celebrities out of commoners,” says Salve. “I never take on more than one show at a time. And here, we’re talking rival channels. I’m happy where I am.”

Future plans

The actor hasn’t been seen on a daily soap for a long time. She was even rumoured to have moved into Bollywood, but nothing has been heard of the movie she had supposedly signed two years ago. “If I get a decent role, I’ll take it up but I don’t want to kill myself with an overdose of work,” says Salve. “I’m open to shows. I spend two days on

Dance India Dance

every week. If I find something that fits into whatever little time I have, I’ll think about it.”
